My name is Robert Zederbaum, the oldest of Zeke Zederbaum’s sons. My memories of my dad, especially when I was a young boy, were made up of the times that I got to spend with him on Sundays. He was working the other six days a week, trying to be the best provider he could be for our family. When I was about six years old, my dad was in a bad accident and suffered severe burns which kept him in and out of hospitals for almost three years. When he got out, he decided he wanted to be an electrician, so he started his own electrical company, Fix It Electric. Building that company into a financial success took an awful lot of his time. However, as I have said, on Sundays, I got to spend time with my dad, mostly working with him on home improvement projects and the like. But every once in a while, we would sit together and he would go through his photo album with me. My favorite story was one he told me about a battle he was in. Toward the end of 1944, the hundredth infantry was sent to take and hold a small town in France known as Bitche. The men of the “Century” division, later became known as the “Sons of Bitche”. As my son Michael was putting this site together, I realized that each and every picture which he posted reminded me of those “good ol’ days” and further reminded me of how much I admired my dad for the sacrifices that he made both during the war and for our family. You realize as you reminisce how much you miss those who are no longer with us and my dad left us way too young. Hopefully developing this site will help my sons, and my grandchildren learn a little about the grand-dad that they never got to meet. Thanks dad.
